Most Common Electric Oven Problems
Electric ovens are complex appliances — a single faulty component can affect the entire unit. Here is a breakdown of the most common issues we repair and what typically causes them.
Burners Not Heating (Electric Stove)

If one or more stovetop burners aren't getting hot, the issue is typically a burned-out burner coil, a faulty drip bowl connection, or a defective infinite switch (the knob that controls burner heat level).
Coil burners can sometimes be swapped quickly, while infinite switch replacements require accessing the control panel.

Uneven Baking or Hot Spots

If your food comes out unevenly cooked — burned on one side and raw on the other — the bake element may only be partially working, or the oven temperature sensor may be giving the control board incorrect readings.
A calibration issue with the thermostat can also cause this problem. We test the temperature sensor and calibrate the oven as part of the diagnostic.

Oven Door Not Closing Properly

A poorly sealing oven door lets heat escape, causes temperature fluctuations, and increases energy use.
The most common causes are worn door gaskets, bent door hinges, or a warped inner door panel. Replacing a door gasket on most electric ovens is straightforward and inexpensive.
